Ke Kula Mele 2016 Winter Concert

The Ke Kula Mele Hawaii School of Hawaiian Music presented its 2016 Winter Concert on Saturday, December 17, at Kaneoheʻs Windward Mall. The hour-long concert featured the music schoolʻs students singing and playing traditional Hawaiian and Christmas songs. The concert theme was “ALOHA.”

Each song featured a Hawaiian steel guitar played by one of the schoolʻs many steel guitar students from age 11 to adult. Six of the schoolʻs steel guitar students performed a steel guitar ensemble medley arranged by Kumu (teacher) Alan Akaka. The medley included Aloha-themed songs “The Palm Trees Sing Aloha,” “There Goes Kealoha,” He Aloha No ʻO Honolulu,” and “To You Sweetheart, Aloha.”
