Gretsch guitars were made famous by players such as Jimmy Webster, Chet Atkins, and Eddie Cochran.
In the 1950's the Valco Company manufactured electric lap steels for Gretsch. The famous "DeArmond" pickup used exclusively on Gretsch guitars was also placed on these lap steels.
The Electromatic has a symmetrical body covered in pearloid (aka MOTS or "mother of toilet seat"), black painted plastic fingerboard, and a robust metal control plate.
The DeArmond pickup screams classic 1950's vibe.
