1936 Harmony Sears Golden Jubilee

June 21, 2017 • Geronimo "Geri" ValdrizInstruments and Luthiers

In 1936, the Sears Roebuck Company commemorated their 50th Anniversary in business. Sears contracted Harmony to produce a limited edition lap steel guitar called the "Golden Jubilee."

This model was made for only one year and was sold only through the 1936 Sears Roebuck mail order catalog.

The headstock faceplate features a stylized "h" for Harmony, and fern leaf decorative flourishes. The magnetic pickup is from the early pioneering days of guitar electronics.
