The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Windward Mall will feature seven Hawaiian steel guitar artists and the Next Generation steel guitarists and musicians from Ke Kula Mele Hawaii School of Hawaiian Music. The festival will be held on June 9, 2018, at the Kane'ohe center beginning at 1 PM. Performances will run through 5 PM at the mall's center stage.
This will be the third year that the festival is offered to Windward O'ahu residents, and is one of two festivals presented for O'ahu communities. The other community festival at Kapolei's Ka Makana Ali'i center was held on March 17.
Participating in this year's festival will be steel guitarists Paul Kim, Alexis Tolentino, Isaac Akuna, Steve Cheney, Alan Akaka, Bobby Ingano, and Greg Sardinha.

Ke Kula Mele Next Generation steel guitarists and musicians will include Pono Fernandez, Malie Lyman, Joey Misailidis, and her sister Tai Misailidis on U-bass. Aging from 10 to 14, these musicians recently performed at the 10th Anniversary Maui Steel Guitar Festival.
This year's festival will follow the one-hour Ke Kula Mele Hawaii School of Hawaiian Music spring concert which will be presented beginning at 11 AM at the mall's center stage. This concert is also free and open to the public.
This festival is produced by HIMELE, the Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences, and is supported in part by the Windward Mall and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
