Luthier Yasu Kamiya of Tokyo, Japan spent 12 years working for Sho-Bud at Nashville, Tennessee. He wound custom pickups for pedal steel guitars.
In 1986 Kamiya returned to Japan and established Canopus Guitars. He made custom, high quality copies of classic Fender and Gibson steel guitars.
Kamiya hand wound each pickup, upgraded the tuning gears and hardware, and offered custom colors. He made multi neck and multi stringed console steels and a Gibson style lap steel.
Canopus steels produce a warm sounding tone, perfect for that soothing, nahenahe Hawaiian style. Sayonara!
