Geri's Vintage Steels

1946 Rickenbacher B6 (with Modified Long Scale Neck)

September 1, 2020 • Geronimo "Geri" ValdrizInstruments and Luthiers

This steel guitar came to me with its headstock broken off.

Maui Luthier Milton Yamashita made a replacement neck, fingerboard, and headstock out of solid maple wood. It is dyed black to match the color of the Bakelite. Metal frets were added as well.

1946 Rickenbacher B6 (with Modified Long Scale Neck)

The original Rickenbacker B6 has a molded Bakelite neck with a short scale measuring 22½ inches. However, this long scale neck measure 25½ inches.

The longer scale is more familiar to Weissenborn acoustic and National resonator style players. Watch out for dem reverse slants!
