Due to difficulty in obtaining a hard-wired Internet connection, the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival Keiki Kine at Kahala Mall will not be livestreamed as previously planned.
The festival, featuring NextGen steel guitarists from Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘ i School of Hawaiian Music, will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Kahala Mall. The festival begins at 3 PM and will feature steel guitarists Enosa Lyman, Isabella Bertelmann, Makamae Lyu-Napoleon, Tai Misailidis, Joey Misailidis, and Mālie Lyman.
The venue is unable to provide a hard-wired Internet connection that is preferred for livestream broadcasts. Previous attempts at other venues using a wireless Internet connection have proven to be problematic, adversely affecting broadcast quality and viewing experience.
The two-hour presentation will be recorded on video and posted to the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase's archives after the festival has concluded.
In support of the festival, Breezy Ridge® Instruments and John Pearse® strings provides NextGen steel guitarists with steel guitar strings and other accessories. Additional support for the festival comes from the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority through the Kūkulu Ola Program, administered by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA), through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawai‘i or grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and the Laurence H. Dorcy Hawaiian Foundation.
