Mele Hali‘a to feature Ke Kula Mele Next Gen Steel Guitarists

Waikiki Beach Walk's monthly Mele Hali‘a showcase will feature NextGen steel guitarists from Alan Akaka's Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘i School of Hawaiian Music. The August showcase will be presented at the Waikiki Beach Walk Plaza outdoor stage on Sunday, August 18, 2024, between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The plaza stage is located at 227 Lewers Street in Waikīkī.

Mele Hali‘a features the finest in Hawaiian musical entertainment by some of Hawai‘i's most exceptional, award-winning artists on one special Sunday each month. All performances are open and free.

The event is organized by Kia Enterprises LLC and the Waikiki Beach Walk Plaza Management in collaboration with the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts

NextGen steel guitarists participating in Mele Hali‘a include Isaac Woodward, Hi‘ipoi Lindsey, Ever Ta‘ala, Tai Misailidis, and Isabella Bertelmann.

The Ke Kula Mele band, comprising other students and parents of Ke Kula Mele Hawai'i School of Hawaiian Music, will provide back up for the NextGen steel guitarists. The band includes Kaipo Lindsey, David Woodward, Ethan Speyer, Steve Kawachi, and kumu Alan Akaka.
